HP Inc. agreed to pay 4 million dollars within the framework of the resolution of customer requests for the “wrong ad” charges of computers and environmental devices on the website. About it reports Ars Technica.
Judge P. Keisi Pitts from the US Court of Northern Region of California (San Jose Branch) gave a preliminary approval with the agreement of a collective claim. Initially filed on October 13, 2021, the HP website argued that the “misleading” starting prices for various computers, mice and keyboard are displaced. According to the plaintiffs, these prices were higher than the prices in which the products were offered without discounts recently.
According to the conditions of the reconciliation agreement, HP will deposit $ 4 million in total funds. This fund will target payments made to the plaintiff class (customers) members.
The right to compensation is a desktop, laptop, mouse or HP keyboard sold with a “more than 75 percent time” discount in the period between June 5, 2021 – 28 October 2024. The list of suitable products includes various HP Specter, Chromebook Envy, Pavilion, HP Envy and Omen desktop models, as well as some mechanical keyboards and wireless mice. Depending on the purchased product type, the plaintiff class members can reach $ 10 for each purchased product.
Within the framework of the reconciliation agreement, the HP did not recognize any crime or responsibility.
