Computer vision syndrome is manifested by fatigue, decreased visual acuity, dry eyes and headaches. Natalia Koval, an eye surgeon at the I See Eye Microsurgery Center, said in an interview with socialbites.ca that relatively recently glasses were invented that protect the eyes and serve as a preventive measure for the development of computer vision syndrome.
“The glasses come with or without a diopter, so both healthy and refractory people can use them. The glasses come with a special dimming filter that will be useful for professional use of a computer, for example when people write and edit text, designs, graphics. Most of the time, the glasses have an anti-reflective coating and a yellow filter that cuts out dangerous blue and ultraviolet rays, which is very good,” he said.
The doctor recommends buying such glasses in specialized stores, pharmacies and opticians, but not in underground passages or markets. In this case, it is important that the buyer is consulted by a qualified specialist, since we are talking about a medicinal product.
In addition, as Koval points out, modern monitors are equipped with protective filters and a matte coating that does not create glare that disturbs vision. But the health of the eyes does not only depend on harmful radiation, and attention should also be paid to the layout of the workplace in order to protect the organs of vision from negative effects.
“The monitor should be at eye level – at a distance of 50-60 cm, not higher and not lower. It is important to have a comfortable seat, and adequate lighting, so that there are no clamps and discomfort in the cervical area. You also need to remember the regimen of visual load – take a break every 1.5-2 hours. And remember that occasional blinking during hard work causes dryness of the eye, which does not contribute to comfort and health, ”said the author.
Formerly socialbites.ca said about chronic inflammation of the eyes from vasoconstrictor drops.
