Samsung is reviewing its manufacturing strategy for 2022 and plans to reduce its smartphone shipment schedule from 300 million to 260 million units. informs South Korean edition of TheElec.
Initially, Samsung’s production target was 334 million smartphones, of which 284 million were planned to be assembled in-house. According to TheElec sources, Samsung plans to independently produce 34 million smartphones between October and November. This is much less than previous quarters or similar periods of previous years.
This year’s lower target is driven by rising inflation, lower consumer demand and supply issues affecting all producers. The only company unaffected is Apple, according to The Elec.
Samsung is said to have faced many challenges in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. But despite all the troubles, the company still shipped 250 million devices, and since the pandemic subsided in 2021, Samsung has already produced 300 million smartphones.
