The attack on VGTRK by the hacker group sudo rm -RF could have been successful as a result of the actions of an insider, namely a bribed employee of a Russian company. This assumption was made by Igor Bederov, head of the information and analytical research department of T.Hunter, in a conversation with socialbites.ca. According to the expert, if the insider’s work is realized, he may be offered a reward of up to $1 million.
The expert said that after the start of SVO, pro-Ukrainian hacktivists and hackers are constantly looking for employees of Russian companies who are ready to help cybercriminals infiltrate the network infrastructure of the target organization in exchange for a monetary reward.
“They generally appeal to IT professionals and in-house information security experts. They want various vulnerabilities and malware to be downloaded onto computers, which will make it easier for hackers to work. Bederov said that the results of insider work ranged from a harmless falsification (change of content on the main page of the site – socialbites.ca) to encryption of all files, which paralyzed the work of the enterprise.
The expert added that the wages offered by Ukrainians reached 1 million dollars. He also added that for particularly dangerous actions, an insider may be offered a passport of another state and accommodation there in comfortable conditions.
“However, practices show that those inside can receive neither money nor shelter. The only thing insiders can count on is dismissal and criminal prosecution,” Bederov said.
Previously appearedHe said that VGTRK and RuTube were attacked by the same hacker group.
