In Japan, various events aimed at improving urban infrastructure are being held throughout 2024 with the support of Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. As part of one of the latest such promotions, another manhole cover decorated with a Pikachu image was presented. In this article reports GoNintendo broadcast.
The aim of such events is to transform certain areas of Japan into tourist attractions. One of the most visible results of such actions is the Pokemon covers that have already been installed throughout the country.
A new manhole cover in the Pokémon Local Actions series has appeared near the Nintendo Museum in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture. It differs from previous models in that it features a GameBoy handheld game console as well as Pikachu. Everyone will be able to take photos with the landmark after the Nintendo Museum’s opening, scheduled for October 2, 2024.
It is noteworthy that the new cover was personally introduced by Takato Utsunomiya and Shuntaro Furukawa, presidents of The Pokemon Company and Nintendo, respectively.
