Technologies can develop without creativity, and creativity can easily become low-tech. We discuss this topic in the session “Industrial partnerships in the creative economy: are technologies possible without creativity?” Russian designer and entrepreneur Artemy Lebedev said at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2024):
Lebedev noted that neural networks are widespread today, which make it possible to create an unlimited amount of masterpieces of painting in just a few seconds.
“My time has come, I am a designer and planner, although I cannot paint. It turns out that an idea that arises in the brain can be realized on canvas or in the form of any object, thanks to my ability to set a task,” said Lebedev.
Lebedev also stressed that it will still be impossible to do without people. Technologies are not yet able to independently generate ideas, determine the quality of work and choose the best from the many options offered.
Director General of the National Center for Industrial Design and Innovation “2050.LAB” Daria Topilskaya agreed with the designer. She also noted that technologies can be very different, they can be divided into two groups.
The first is the technologies that designers use directly in their creativity as a tool to create something new. The second is the technologies for the production of mass products.
