Microsoft’s new Copilot+ computers, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon ARM chips that promise high performance and long battery life for AI tasks, have been revealed to be completely unsuitable for gaming. reports MacRumor’s post.
The problem stems from the chip being used on ARM architecture, which has caused incompatibility with some popular games developed for x86. Microsoft has developed software called Prism, similar to Rosetta 2 on Apple’s Mac, to run x86 applications on ARM-based Windows computers. However, tests showed that only about half of the 1,300 games tested by journalists worked without crashing or launching issues.
Some games, like Fortnite and League of Legends, can’t have their anti-cheat software adapted to run on ARM, preventing even games with low graphics requirements from running. Microsoft has acknowledged that graphics-intensive games may not run on Copilot+ PCs, and has recommended that players looking for better performance consider alternative devices.
Previously presented Shark-shaped computers cost more than half a million rubles.
