Enthusiasts in China have repurposed old 2012 iPads into portable 2K displays for use with computers, the portal reports WCCFTech.
It is stated that the unconventional approach extends the life of old devices and also significantly reduces the volume of electronic waste.
The image, posted by social media user X (formerly Twitter) @iconredesign, shows an iPad connected to a Windows 11 computer and used with a wireless keyboard. However, using an older iPad as an external display requires opening up the device and installing the Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) adapter.

The device had a 9.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels, 1 GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64 GB of permanent memory.
