American entrepreneur Elon Musk announced the launch of “the world’s most powerful cluster for training artificial intelligence” by his company xAI. In his account on the social network X (Twitter), he said that the new system will create “the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence by all indicators.” This technology is expected to be released in December 2024. In this regard reports Published by Tom’s Hardware.
Musk also said the system includes 100,000 liquid-cooled Nvidia H100 accelerators running on a single RDMA bus, making it the most powerful AI training cluster in the world.
The project is part of Musk’s plans to create a “gigafactory for computing,” a giant data center with one of the world’s most powerful AI supercomputers, which is expected to launch in the fall of 2025.
The news of the launch of a cluster for AI training coincides with reports that Musk was planning to order a large number of Nvidia H100 accelerators for his projects. Apparently, he didn’t have the patience to wait for the newer H200 or B100 and B200 generation Blackwell models to hit the market.
The supercomputer for AI training is located in a data center in Memphis. It is seen that it is significantly superior to other similar systems. For example, the Frontier supercomputer is built on 27,888 AMD accelerators, Aurora uses 60 thousand Intel accelerators, and Microsoft Eagle uses 14,400 H100 accelerators from Nvidia.
Previously on Google was created Artificial intelligence for accurate weather forecasting.
