Steam users who purchased the PC port of Ghost of Tsushima in countries where it is not possible to officially open a PlayStation Network (PSN) account face automatic refunds for their pre-orders. Messages about this started to appear on forums and social networks.
A week before Ghost of Tsushima’s release, the game was removed from Steam in 180 countries where it was impossible to open a PSN account. Later, while the game was taken from those who had previously pre-ordered it, the money spent began to be refunded. There has been no official comment from Sony, Sucker Punch Productions or Valve on this matter.
Sony’s decision caused discontent among Steam users, particularly those who already had active PSN accounts and were able to use those accounts to access the game’s multiplayer features despite geo-restrictions. Ghost of Tsushima is scheduled to release on PC on May 16, 2024, which remains unclear to potential buyers in those regions.
