The routes of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) will extend to 11 districts of the Central Transport Hub (CTH), a high-speed train network that will connect the capital with the nearest regions. This statement was made by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
He reminded that the creation of MDC was the first stage in the development of the Central Center.
“It is one of the largest transportation hubs in the world, with eight hundred million passengers a year. Today we see a need to expand the MCD to cover all major regional capitals. Moscow, together with Russian Railways and the government, is working on the expansion of these railway routes to 11 more cities,” Khusnullin said.
According to him, approaches to the expansion of MCD are currently being prepared, a feasibility study is being developed and the necessary investments in this project are being evaluated.
“The previous MCD project was implemented on the basis of equality between the federal budget, the Moscow budget and the Russian Railways budget. “We hope to maintain the same parity scheme for these 11 additional routes,” he said.
