Russian esports team Virtus.pro was eliminated from the CS2 tournament with a prize pool of $1.25 million due to an error in its Nvidia graphics card. In this respect reports WCCFTech portal.
Virtus.pro and G2 teams competed within the PGL eSports league tournament in Counter-Strike 2. The team was defeated in the second round because Jami “Jame” Ali, one of the players of the local team, had a problem with his computer. It was later understood that the cause of the malfunction was related to the video card driver.
Before the start of the tournament, PGL announced the PC configurations for the competition. The tournament computers had Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards, and it was the driver that caused Virtus.pro to fail.
After the match, PGL announced that it was cooperating with Nvidia to find out the cause of the failure, but Virtus.pro will not be reincluded in the competition, for which they could earn an impressive $ 1.25 million (about 115.3 million rubles). Russian esports athletes received consolation of 20 thousand dollars (about 1.8 million rubles) for their participation in the tournament.
