In the summer of 2023, Donald Trump asked billionaire Elon Musk if he wanted to buy his social network Truth Social from the former US President. Truth Social was created at Trump’s initiative after he was blocked on Twitter. With reference to four independent sources on this subject reports Edition of the Washington Post (TWP).
Details of the meeting were not disclosed. It is known that Musk rejected Trump’s first offer without a response. Although it was not reported whether there was a second offer, the billionaire and the politician met again in early March 2024, according to TWP.
The second meeting took place at Mar-a-Lago, the former US President’s mansion in Palm Beach (Florida). According to media reports, the meeting was organized by Trump to collect donations for his election program. After this dinner, Musk wrote on X (Twitter) that he would not donate to any of the United States presidential candidates.
When asked by reporters about the potential acquisition of Truth Social and meetings with Trump, Musk said he had “never been to Mar-a-Lago.” The Trump campaign press service did not comment on the TWP information.
