Video game maker Rockstar Games will ask its employees to work in the office five days a week from April 2024 to complete development of the new sixth installment of the cult video game series Grand Theft Auto. This was reported by newspaper Bloomberg.
Rockstar Games management explained its decision based on efficiency and security concerns. The company has previously faced multiple data leaks, including the release of numerous early frames from GTA VI and the early leak of a trailer for the upcoming game online in December last year.
“Making these changes gives us the best opportunity to publish the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and readiness we need,” reads an email sent to Rockstar Games employees on behalf of Jenn Kolbe, the company’s head of publishing.
Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2025. The release of its predecessor, GTA V, took place in 2013. During the 11 years of its existence, the crime thriller has sold more than 195 million copies worldwide and earned its creators approximately $7.7 billion, making it one of the most successful video games in history.
Previously the creators of GTA suffered from a large-scale information leak.
