After a long process of researching and testing various options, Apple has made the final decision on the Dynamic Island notch design for the iPhone screen. In this respect reports MacRumor portal.
According to the source, Apple was considering various alternative ways to place interface elements such as brightness and volume controls, as well as clock, contact and battery indicators. One of them was the context menu that appeared on the right side of the screen when clicked. Another is to completely hide the notch, which is almost invisible thanks to the OLED matrix, behind a black strip at the top of the screen. A similar solution can be found on Android devices in the form of the “Hide Notch” function.
Additionally, even after settling on the notch itself, Apple experimented with the size of the Dynamic Island and how to interact with it. However, in the end, the company preferred the Dynamic Island concept used in current iPhone models.
The Dynamic Island notch first appeared on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The base models offered a notch cutout, which has been around since the 2017 iPhone X.
