Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s gaming division, hosted a podcast in which he explained his vision for the future of Xbox. In this respect reports DTF portal.
First of all, early leaks have been partially confirmed: Microsoft has announced that four of its exclusive games will be released on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The names of the projects have not yet been announced, but Spencer said that Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are not among them. We are assumed to be talking about Pentiment, Hi-Fi RUSH, Sea of Thieves and Grounded. The company also does not rule out the possibility of releasing other games on competitors’ platforms in the future.
Microsoft will continue to invest in the development of its platform and will maintain exclusivity from internal studios for the majority of its games. Spencer stated that console exclusive games will become less relevant over the next decade due to changing trends in the industry.
Games from Activision, Blizzard and King will be available on Game Pass starting in spring 2024. The first of these will be Diablo IV, which will join the library on March 28 on PC and Xbox. More games will be added to Game Pass throughout the year. Details about Call of Duty and other projects have not yet been announced.
Games from internal Xbox studios will continue to be available on Game Pass from day one of launch. Consoles remain the priority for the company, and Game Pass will not appear on rival platforms.
Additionally, Microsoft is preparing to introduce something new about Xbox at the end of 2024. According to rumors, the new product may be a portable version of Xbox. At the same time, the next generation console is also in development. The company promises the biggest technological breakthrough in the platform’s history, but the console’s release date has not been announced yet.
At the same time, it was learned that the number of Game Pass subscribers reached 34 million people and that a major Xbox presentation will take place in June 2024.
