WhatsApp has introduced the feature of blocking secret chats with passwords. The innovation is currently available to messaging testers, the portal reports WABetaInfo.
The feature to block chats using passwords was discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android under version 2.23.24.20. A corresponding section has appeared in the settings of this version, where users can hide chats and set a protective password for these conversations.
Additionally, the password used may differ from the password used to unlock the smartphone. You can also use face unlock or fingerprint scanner to access secret chats.
According to WABetaInfo, thanks to the new feature, users will be able to increase the protection level of their data. Especially if the attacker knows the smartphone password, he will not be able to access confidential correspondence if a different password is used to protect it.
It is stated that chats hidden on one device can also be found on other connected devices.
The innovation is currently available only to users of the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, which can be downloaded from Google Play. The timing of distribution of the function to stable structures of the reporter was not disclosed.
