Apple is testing an iPhone 16 Pro prototype with a circular cutout on the screen for the front camera. About this on your page on X (formerly Twitter) stated Official insider Majin Bu.
The possible new design differs from the current design due to the absence of the Dynamic Island notch, which was first introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max in 2022 and spread to all iPhone 15 models.
An insider explained that this is just one of the options Apple is considering at this stage. The final design of the front panel of the new smartphone will be determined in March 2024, when iPhone 16 production will begin.
Majin Bu believes that the round notch will appear only on the iPhone 17. The insider also shared an image of the iPhone 16 Pro with a round notch to show what such a smartphone could look like.
In the past, many sources have stated that the new generation iPhone will have a round cutout for the front camera, and the Face ID system will be “hidden” under the screen. Rumor has it that Apple plans to completely abandon cutouts for the camera and other sensors in its future smartphones and make them screen-based.
