An error occurred on the Wikipedia website – users in Russia cannot access the web encyclopedia page.
When trying to access the site, users see the message “503 Service Unavailable” – “service temporarily unavailable”. The 503 code that appears usually means that the request-handling server doesn’t have time to deal with them.
This can happen for several reasons – a significant number of users attempting to log in at the same time, hanging scripts, or a targeted DDoS attack. Monitoring services, including Downdetector, are reporting access denied to wikipedia.org.
