Kaspersky Lab experts have detected a highly sophisticated, targeted cyberattack on the iPhones of the company’s top executives and mid-level executives. This was reported to socialbites.ca in the press service of Kaspersky Lab.
It was recorded that the attackers tried to sneak the Triangulation spyware into Apple devices. To do this, hackers exploited a series of vulnerabilities in iOS that allowed sending an invisible message in iMessage containing a malicious attachment in the form of spyware.
“The application of the program is completely confidential from the user and does not have any involvement. In addition, spyware also silently transmits private information to remote servers: recordings from the microphone, photos from instant messengers, information about the location and a number of other activities of the owner of the infected device.
The attack was detected by Kaspersky Lab’s KUMA network event monitoring and analysis system. The software detected an anomaly in the network, and further investigation on it showed that several dozen iPhones were infected.
According to the company’s experts, an indirect sign of the presence of Triangulation on the device hinders the ability to update iOS.
Former cyber expert Igor Bederov said “Gazeta.ru”, in which viruses on the iPhone during targeted attacks can be detected only by analyzing Internet traffic.
