The American company Apple planned to release a model of the first-generation AirPods wireless headphones in 2016, only in special colors other than white. As reported by insider and collector Kosutami twitteras a result, the multi-colored versions of the gadget were abandoned.
The source posted a photo of the AirPods prototype in a custom color. According to him, the company came very close to the decision to release earphones in different colors to match the colors of the smartphone case.
“Apple has planned to make the AirPods and earphones in pink, red, purple and black in addition to white. The reason for the different colors is simple: The company wanted the accessory color to match the color of the iPhone 7 case,” said Kosutami.
According to him, the headsets in different colors went through almost all the development stages and were extremely close to the final version. However, at the last moment, a decision was made in favor of white only, giving up diversity within Apple. An insider explained that he did not know the exact reason for this decision of the company from Cupertino.
AirPods are currently only available in white. Some private craftsmen offer the service of painting the headphone and case separately for a very high amount.
