South Korean company Samsung presented at SID Display Week an OLED display that can increase the screen area by five times, thanks to its special rotation function. It has been reported New Atlas.
“According to the developers, this is a laptop screen of the future that expands to offer five times more screen area and a touchpad that can read fingerprints and measure blood pressure,” the article says.
It was noted that the prototype is called Rollable Flex OLED. The screen expands from 49mm height to 254.4mm at 1200 x 1920 pixel resolution.
Samsung says foldable OLED panels will help “revolutionize the mobility of tablets and laptops.”
The current prototype opens like a scroll from the O axis. As a result, its width is much smaller than the width of a traditional laptop screen or computer monitor.
Samsung engineers have succeeded in integrating a photosensitive organic photodiode into an OLED panel. This made it possible to add a fingerprint scanning function anywhere on the screen surface. The sensor can also measure the user’s blood pressure and stress level. According to the developers, for this you need to hold a finger from each owner’s hand to the screen.
Previously at SID Display Week Chinese company TSL CSOT introduced The world’s first foldable 65″ OLED TV.
