Online services that use neural networks to identify people from photos can be used to find your couples. Igor Bederov, head of the information and analytical research department of T.Hunter, told socialbites.ca about this.
“In fact, it is a side effect of public drilling tools that can be used for entertainment. There is a myth that every person on the planet has a couple. Such services allow you to test their strength, ”said the expert.
According to Bederov, most of these “search engines” work with databases of photos taken from social networks. However, there are those who look for matches in pictures and other sources. For example, one of these services has more than 58 billion images in its database.
“For professionals engaged in open source data mining (OSINT), such services are very helpful in identifying people. For example, by finding a stranger’s account on a social network, you can find out his name, date of birth, connections, places he visited, ”explained Bederov.
The expert warned that if double-searching is fun for a legitimate user, such a service can become a blackmail tool in the hands of malicious people.
“The anonymization of webcam models and prostitutes is an obvious scenario. Some go even further. They take pictures of sex workers on private websites, find and blackmail stuntmen on social networks. They demand money from copies in exchange for not spreading compromising information,” Bederov explained.
In the event of a collision with this type of blackmail, the expert advised not to panic and get dragged into provocation, and immediately contact law enforcement.
