“Smartphones activated outside of Russia are already shipping,” DiHouse product manager Lyubov Morozova told the publication.
Another source told Izvestia that selling “unpackaged” iPhones will enable large volumes of sales. There will also be inactive devices on the market, but at a higher price.
According to the newspaper, the reason for importing active gadgets is because foreign partners fear the end of cooperation with Apple. As a result, distributors in Turkey and the UAE buy goods in the USA, activate at home and then deliver to Russia. If this is not done, Apple will track who resells smartphones to the Russian Federation by device activation.
