Downloading apps that have been removed from Google Play to other sources is dangerous because it can often be malware. Sputnik Mikael Karamanyants, founder and CEO of RussianSoft mobile application development company.
“When you download an APK file to your phone from a third-party source, you get a message that the phone knows nothing about the security of that source and that this APK file could potentially be unsafe,” he said.
The expert thought that the only safe way was to download programs only to sources without the slightest suspicion, for example, the official website of a bank or a news source. According to the expert, the Russian user now decides for himself whether to allow the device to upload these files.
Karamanyants warned that attackers will create phishing sites and publish the same files. “If you downloaded files from such a source, potentially infected, the risks are high. “These APK files may contain viruses that will leak data,” he said.
