In late February, users started receiving previously ordered Steam Deck consoles. So Digital Foundry specialists decided to test the novelty in popular games. The choice fell on the famous “benchmark” – Crisis. But there were problems.

As it turned out, the original game didn’t launch on console at all and the remake worked, but not too well. In particular, it was not possible to play at “maximum speed” even at a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. In some cases, the frame rate drops to 5 FPS, turning the game into a slideshow.
Separately, we note that even when the resolution is dropped to 540p in the remaster, the frame rate drops to 45-50 FPS during dynamic scenes. And some objects don’t appear until you approach them.
In general, experts recommend playing at 30 FPS on medium quality settings, but with a high level of post-processing. In this case, the frame rate is acceptable and the autonomy is about 2.5 hours.
