Roskachestvo warns that the use of public Wi-Fi threatens the risk of hacking a “smart” security camera, reports DEA News.
“Wireless IP cameras connect to the Web and enable video streaming from anywhere in the world. <...> To minimize the risk of IP cameras being hacked, we recommend purchasing a camera from trusted manufacturers and opting for existing models with support from manufacturers. <...> When viewing video from the camera, do not use public unsecured Wi-Fi networks – in the subway, cafes, airports, ”the department explained.
The most common reason for hacking in this case is the use of simple passwords and a manufacturer-specified base code. To secure “intelligent” technology, it is recommended to regularly update the software and use the automatic content recognition function.
