Russians told about popular types of Internet scams with expensive brands 14:29

Internet scammers, who make money by selling counterfeit products of well-known brands, often ambush people on classified sites and social networks. Vitaly Zemskikh, technical director of the information security company PRO32, told socialbites.ca about the most common fraud schemes in this area.

First of all, according to the expert, you need to be careful against fraud when buying expensive things from your hands. Especially if they are sold in ads with a delivery function.

“On a site with exclusive ads, they put a branded product at a price below market price. When the buyer buys the product, it turns out to be either a copy or not at all like the original,” Zemskikh said.

Social networks are also a high-risk area. In these, scammers create store pages that claim to sell branded products but only ship them for upfront payment.

“A person transfers money to a card, and the scammer then disappears and does not respond to messages. The buyer was left without money and without a purchase, ”the expert emphasized.

According to Zemskys, attention should be paid to online stores that offer permanent discounts on branded clothing, as well as deliver only by mail.

“At the post office before you pay, it’s open [посылку] it is forbidden. It turns out that when a person already gives the money and opens the package, he does not send what he promised. Scammers expect few people to understand and demand a refund, ”explained the technical director of PRO32.

Zemsky claims that a few rules will help significantly reduce the likelihood of fraud. For example, you need to download the mobile application of the Chestny Znak system (the national system for labeling and tracking products. – Ed.).

“The QR code on the label or box should be scanned and information about the manufacturer and product features will be opened. “If there is no data in the application, it is probably fake,” he said.

With the help of the “Honest Sign” service, you can check shoes, perfumes, clothes, linens and towels.

If something is 10 times cheaper than it is on the official website, then obviously there is a problem, because even second-hand items are not usually sold that cheap. When visually recognizing the goods on delivery, it is important to pay attention not only to the quality of the product, but also to the condition of the packaging.

“For expensive brands, it is usually in a corporate design and made of quality materials. It usually comes with a coupon containing the product’s serial number. Therefore, if you buy something expensive, first look at how the brand packs its things, ”explained Zemskikh.

If it is not possible to avoid the trap of scammers, the specialist recommends contacting Rospotrebnadzor, the police and the court.

Formerly socialbites.ca Wrote That a woman in Transbaikalia wanted to buy a purebred puppy for her granddaughter and gave scammers more than 85 thousand rubles.
