Blogger Zack Nelson, known for testing gadgets for durability, crash-tested the base iPad 10, released by Apple in 2022. The process and outcome of the Nelson test published JerryRigEverything on YouTube channel.
Blogger traditionally started testing by checking if the screen was scratch-resistant. After using the carrier of the sixth hardness level, noticeable marks appeared on the screen of the tablet – a common result. At the same time, Nelson criticized Apple for using a display module with an air gap between the display and the matrix.
After Blogger also checked the iPad screen for thermal effects. In this test, the Apple tablet also showed an ordinary result: the screen pixels turned black 15 seconds after a cigarette lighter and quickly returned to normal after cooling. This behavior is standard for IPS matrices.
After playing with the screen, Nelson moved to the body of the tablet. First, he scratched the device with a clerical knife – the paint quickly flew away, but it turned out that the case was made of aluminum. The blogger then switched to his famous flex test, where the tablet literally failed miserably.
The iPad 10 fell apart in the blogger’s hands after even a little effort. The keyboard connector turned out to be a vulnerable spot – when bending it, the first crack appeared there. Also, the blogger disassembled the tablet and made sure that the bending test did not affect the integrity of the battery.
In less than a day, the video from the iPad 10 gained more than 300,000 views and nearly 20,000 likes. In total, more than 7.5 million people have subscribed to the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel.
