Xiaomi has canceled a large-scale presentation on December 1st due to the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin. About announced on the company’s official Weibo account.
“Dear users and friends. We regret to inform you that the launch of the new Xiaomi 13 series will be delayed. Once the new date is confirmed, we will notify you as soon as possible. Thank you all for your understanding and support,” the company said in a statement.
At the presentation on December 1, they planned to show smartphones of the Xiaomi 13 flagship line, Buds 4 Pro headphones, Watch 2S watches, a computer and other innovations of the company.
From 1989 to 2002, Jiang Zemin served as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and was chairman of the PRC from 1993 to 2003. Many important reforms were carried out during Zemin’s tenure, including partial privatisation. The former Chinese leader died of leukemia and multiple organ failure in Shanghai at the age of 96.
