IGN, a major English-language publication about video games, has released a preview of the game Atomic Heart. In their material, journalists cautiously praised domestic long-term construction highlights exciting gameplay and questions the plot.
Atomic Heart’s foreword on IGN has been proudly compared to the beginning of BioShock: Infinite. The events of both games flow smoothly, from a demonstration of the peaceful life of the city to the beginning of the robot uprising. In terms of mission structure, Atomic Heart reminded Western journalists of recent Halo: Infinite. As in the Master Chief adventures, the main quests in the Russian game have to be completed in lane locations, and the side quests are concentrated in the open world.
The level of complexity of the Russian shooter on IGN was called high. The author of the preview noted that the dynamics of the game are constantly changing: you have to regularly fight crowds of relatively weak enemies, followed by dangerous and powerful lone enemies. According to IGN, this speed keeps the player in good shape at all times.
Separately, they highlighted the features of the combat mechanics in the preview. For example, shooting in Atomic Heart has been called an interesting hybrid of Fallout and Call of Duty. The glove, which allows the main character to use various abilities, was described as very useful by journalists.
Overall, IGN praised Atomic Heart for its addictive gameplay and unique environment. But the story aroused fear among journalists – they believe that it will not be able to interest the actors for a long time.
