Zenit Star Izidor’s Potential Move to Sunderland Highlights European Ambitions

The chairman of the board of directors for the St. Petersburg squad, Alexander Medvedev, indicated that the French forward known as Wilson Izidor is set to join the English Championship club Sunderland. His remarks were reported by Sports Express as a point of reference for the development.

Medvedev stated: “Wilson Izidor is headed to Sunderland, England.”

Earlier, it was noted that Izidor had shown a clear interest in pursuing opportunities in Europe.

“Naturally there is a goal to test himself in Europe. I want to go there. I am not pretending when I say that I would be disingenuous if I claimed I plan to spend my entire career here,” the player commented.

Izidor has been part of the St. Petersburg club since 2023, helping the squad clinch the Russian championship in that period.

Zenit currently leads the Russian Premier League standings with thirteen points on the board.

In the forthcoming round, Sergei Semak’s squad is scheduled to confront Spartak Moscow. The clash is set for August 24, with kickoff at 17:30 Moscow time.

Sunderland sits in second place in the league table, tallying six points from two matches.

Earlier, Claudinho faced discipline for an on-field incident, underscoring the league’s ongoing emphasis on conduct and rule adherence.
