That historic tournament saw the United States claim the title with two goals in the final led by Michelle Akers. Akers finished the event as the top scorer with ten goals leaving a lasting mark on the competition years.
France 2019 was a milestone as well when the United States clinched the title for the fourth time after defeating the Netherlands in the final and eliminating Spain in the round of 16 solidifying a dominant era for the American team.
