Brazilian star details his influence on England international Jude Bellingham’s signing with Real Madrid, and he openly says he would love to play alongside Kylian Mbappé one day. He also hints at keeping lines of communication open with Camavinga, while noting there has been no discussion with Mbappé about a Madrid move.
- Vinicius regularly reached out to Bellingham for months to help secure the move
- He also maintained ongoing conversations with Camavinga
- There has been no dialogue with Mbappé regarding a potential transfer
WHAT HAPPENED? Given the immediate on-field chemistry between Vinicius and Bellingham, it was obvious that their relationship began long before the transfer was sealed. The Brazilian winger described how he took on a proactive role in persuading the English midfielder to choose Madrid, driven by a belief that it is the strongest team in the world.
WHAT WAS SAID? In an interview with L’Equipe about Bellingham’s arrival, Vinicius explained: “We are very happy that he has joined. I had been texting him for months. I told him this is the best club in the world. Other teams were interested, and Juni Calafat, who oversees Madrid’s international recruitment, has become a friend. If I can offer a little help, I will. I did not know Bellingham personally, but I knew other clubs liked him. He was pursued by several teams, and I did what I did with Camavinga: I sent messages for months, telling him that Madrid is the best club in the world. He joined, and Madrid went on to win the Champions League.”
When pressed about a possible bid for Mbappé, the South American winger was clear: “No, it’s different. Kylian has his own situation. With Jude, there was a clear sense that a move could happen this summer. It’s perfect that it did.” He added: “Everyone here wants to play with Kylian. I hope that happens someday, perhaps. He is among the best players today, possibly the best.”
At just 23, Vinicius appears to be spearheading Real Madrid’s next generation, moving past some uncertain early seasons to become a central figure within the squad.
