Real Madrid’s Brazilian defender Eder Militao is slated to appear before a judge on November 23 as a victim in the case examining racist and xenophobic insults directed at players during the Valencia CF versus Real Madrid match from last season. This update was confirmed by Plural and EL PERIÓDICO DE ESPAÑA, part of the Prensa Ibérica group. So far, Vinicius Jr. remains the only player publicly identified as harmed and has condemned the incidents.
The decision followed LaLiga’s legal services expanding the complaint to include Militao as a victim. Militao’s testimony is expected to be conducted via videoconference, mirroring Vinicius Jr.’s recent appearance, who testified electronically at the Madrid Courts in Plaza de Castilla.
The Valencian club’s technical staff had initially requested Militao’s testimony, given that he reportedly faced demeaning behavior tied to his skin color and Brazilian nationality. Militao’s appearance underscores the scope of the case, which lists several individuals suspected of directing insults toward players on the field.
The individuals under investigation were reportedly unable to attend the Valencian court in person for personal reasons, leaving part of the inquiry to proceed through remote testimony and written statements where applicable.
The case has drawn widespread attention across Spanish football, highlighting ongoing concerns about racism and xenophobia in the sport. The involved parties continue to work through the legal process, while players and clubs advocate for stronger protections and more robust actions against discriminatory behavior in stadiums and on social platforms.
