Vasily Utkin, known as a journalist, blogger, and president of the Egrisi Media League football club, was photographed in a wheelchair as part of a group shot published by the Telegram media club channel.
Earlier in the season, Utkin’s team secured a 2-1 win over KDS-Mosavtobeton in an Amateur Football League match.
There were reports from Mash on a social media channel asserting that Utkin’s weight had surpassed 200 kilograms, prompting doctors to urge a rapid dieting plan and an active weight-loss strategy. The report suggested that the journalist, who owns the Egrisi football club, had endured cardiovascular complications associated with significant weight issues. It was noted that medical assessments included the presence of elevated cholesterol plaque deposits in the vessels.
Utkin responded to these claims by stating that he does not suffer from heart problems but acknowledges ongoing struggles with excess weight and a healing process following a leg injury sustained in a prior incident.
Throughout his career, Utkin earned recognition for his sports commentary, including TEFI awards in the “Best Sports Commentator” category in 2004 and 2005. He served as editor-in-chief of NTV-Plus from 2010 to 2015, and from 2014 to 2015 he hosted the competition program “Big Question” on the STS TV channel. Between November 2015 and February 2016, Utkin worked at Match TV, and from March 2016 to May 2017 he provided match commentary for Eurosport. His career also includes a stint at Eurosport where he contributed as a leading voice in European and international match coverage.
