Grigory Ivanov, the head of Ural football club, affirmed comments made by commentator Konstantin Genich regarding Magomed Ozdoev. The midfielder is expected to receive a higher salary in Yekaterinburg than Turkey’s Fatih Karagyumryuk, according to Ivanov as quoted in Day Sport by Day.
Earlier, Genich had indicated Özdoev’s earnings at Fatih Karagyumryuk stood at about €600,000 per season.
Ivanov noted that exact figures were not disclosed, but suggested Ural could have offered a larger package. He emphasized that Özdoev chose to pursue opportunities abroad and that this decision should be understood. He also mentioned that similar money was offered, with a slight increase, yet Özdoev opted for a different path.
On June 1, the 29-year-old Özdoev left Zenit St. Petersburg after his contract expired and became a free agent. The midfielder had been part of Zenit since February 2018, tallying 116 appearances, eight goals, and 18 assists for the club. During his spell with Zenit, he helped win the Russian Premier League title four times, along with a national Cup and two Super Cups.
