David de Gea, the former Manchester United international goalkeeper who is currently free agent, visited Elda on November 6 to meet Pascual Pérez, the owner and president of Eldense Sports Club, to learn more about Barça’s project and the club’s potential future path.
Sources from Onda Cero indicate that there is growing interest in acquiring at least part of Eldense, marking a significant moment for LaLiga Hypermotion. After a 58-year absence, Eldense is competing in the top two divisions this season, demonstrating a robust on-field presence alongside its growing profile.
Pascual Pérez, a wealthy businessman who acquired Eldense in 2019, has announced his intention to place the club up for sale and step away by the end of September. His involvement with the club began with the ascent of Deportivo from the Third RFEF to professional football, powered by the participation of his company Finetwork, a sponsor of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and a committed advocate for the sport.
Thus, Eldense has become an appealing opportunity for many investors. De Gea and the club’s owner met on the preceding Monday to discuss the club’s status, the project, and the sale conditions, with initial talks indicating a potential first step toward ownership.
It is noted that this is not De Gea’s first approach to buying a club in the Alicante area. In 2019 he showed interest when José Sepulcre offered his Elche shares for sale, though his bid was lower than that of Argentinian businessman Christian Bragarnik, who later completed the deal.
Today Eldense stands out not only for its competitive performance but also for its financial stability, maintaining clear commitments and manageable debts as it moves forward. If the club can maintain Hypermotion status into June, a capital increase would be necessary to reach around five million euros. The current capital is approximately 1.8 million euros, from which last season’s losses of about one million euros must be deducted. This would place the eventual investment near four million euros. In Eldense, optimism is rising about the club’s future, and De Gea’s possible involvement continues to be a frequent topic of discussion among supporters and local circles.
