UFC president Dana White announced on social media that light-heavyweight competitor Sharabutdin Magomedov, known as Shara Bullet, is set to collide with Ukrainian fighter Igor Poterya at the UFC Fight Night event scheduled for June 22 in Saudi Arabia.
Shara Bullet had a single appearance in the UFC so far, securing a unanimous decision victory over Bruno Silva in October 2023.
The evening’s headline bout features a showdown between Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker. Chimaev is also slated to compete at UFC 300 in Las Vegas on April 13, a card White described as a major milestone for the promotion. The challenger indicated willingness to take on any opponent, yet noted that the Ramadan period during which the event falls influenced his scheduling and readiness.
Earlier, on October 21, 2023, Chimaev earned a decision win over Nigerian contender Kamaru Usman in the co-main event at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. The three-round fight added another victory for Chimaev, who had logged a flawless record in his previous appearances. He sits among the top contenders in the official UFC rankings for his weight class, reflecting his rapid ascent within the promotion.
There has also been a note in the sport about a Russian UFC fighter who faced disqualification due to doping violations, a precedent that continues to influence discussions around regulation, testing, and competitive integrity within the organization.
