Russian figure skater Maxim Kovtun offered his take on the circulating news that coach Tatyana Tarasova intends to launch a personal show on YouTube, a project tied to Championship.com.
“Tatyana Anatolyevna has a rare knack for explaining figure skating in a way that fans find compelling. This is bound to draw a wide audience, and I would be happy to take part”, Kovtun remarked, underscoring the appeal of Tarasova’s storytelling and expertise.
Tarasova’s journey in the sport began as a competitor who skated through her teens before a career-ending injury redirected her path toward coaching. Over the years, she has mentored a roster of skaters who rose to the pinnacle of the sport, including world, European, and Olympic champions. Names such as Irina Rodnina with Alexander Zaitsev, Natalya Bestemyanova with Andrey Bukin, Oksana Grischuk with Evgeny Platov, Ilya Kulik, and Alexei Yagudin have benefited from her guidance. Collectively, Tarasova’s pupils have captured an impressive tally of gold medals across World and European Championships and accumulated seven Olympic medals, a record that speaks to her influence on generations of skaters.
Tatyana Navka, the former Olympic champion in ice dancing, also commented on Tarasova’s plan, noting the coach’s intent to bring her insights to a dedicated YouTube show. The moves toward a modern, digital platform reflect Tarasova’s ongoing commitment to sharing expertise and inspiring athletes and fans alike.
