St. Petersburg Zenit’s Brazilian defender Robert Renan will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Internacional. The information came from the club’s press service, which confirmed the arrangement as the market window closed for the current cycle.
The two clubs formalized a loan agreement that keeps the 20-year-old under contract with Zenit through 2028 while he continues his development in Brazil through the end of the 2024 season. The move represents a step for Renan to gain valuable playing time and showcase his abilities in one of South America’s top competitions before returning to Russia.
Renan is a product of Corinthians’ youth system and made the move to Zenit in January 2023. Since joining the Russian club, he has been under a contract that extends to June 2028. Market sources estimate his market value at around 9 million euros, reflecting his potential and the high regard in which he is held within European football circuits.
Over the current Russian Premier League campaign, Renan has featured in a limited number of games, appearing in four of the 18 league fixtures and contributing without registering a goal contribution. The pattern of minutes suggests the loan move is aimed at ensuring regular competitive action for the defender, while Zenit evaluates his long-term fit for their squad.
At the midway point of the RPL season, Zenit sits in second place with 36 points, two points behind the leader Krasnodar. In the upcoming 19th round, the St. Petersburg team is scheduled to host Spartak Moscow at their home ground; the exact kickoff details remain to be confirmed, pending scheduling decisions from the league authorities.
