Spartak Moscow’s general manager, Oleg Malyshev, confirmed the club’s intention to assist Quincy Promes in pursuing Russian citizenship. The statement was reported by TASS and reflects the team’s willingness to support the striker through the naturalization process.
Currently, Promes does not hold a Russian passport, according to Malyshev. If help is needed, Spartak is prepared to provide it, outlining a clear path for the player who has already contributed at the highest level for the club.
Promes has been with Spartak since February 2021, marking a return to the squad after an earlier spell from 2014 to 2018. The Dutch forward played a pivotal role in Spartak’s success during the 2016 17 season, when the team claimed the Russian championship. This season, he appeared in nine matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists. Transfermarkt currently lists Promes’s market value at 11 million euros, and his contract with Spartak runs through the summer of 2024, reflecting the club’s ongoing investment in his services.
Earlier, lawyer Sergei Zhorin stated that Promes would not face obstacles in acquiring Russian citizenship, underscoring the legal perspective that supports the club’s commitment to helping the player navigate the process.
