Rumors from insiders suggest that the capital city clubs have no plans to sign Spartak captain Georgy Dzhikia. According to reports from Ivan Karpov, there is no interest from top Moscow-area teams in acquiring the veteran midfielder at this stage.
The information indicates that neither CSKA, Lokomotiv nor Dinamo show intent to pursue the 30-year-old player. Yet Dinamo Makhachkala and Khimki, both solidly positioned for next season in the Premier League, are seen as potential destinations where Dzhikia could contribute his leadership and experience on the field.
Georgy Dzhikia has been part of Spartak since 2017, a period that included lifting the Russian league title and the Russian Cup with the club. Spartak officially announced his departure on 18 May. Demonstrating leadership, Dzhikia returned to the field the following day wearing the captain’s armband and played 67 minutes in the 29th round Russian Premier League match against Rubin.
Spartak secured a 3-1 victory over Rubin in that contest. While Dzhikia did not record notable attacking statistics in his final appearance, his influence as a veteran presence on the squad remained a talking point among supporters and analysts alike.
With that win, Spartak moved into fifth place in the current standings of the Russian Championship, collecting 49 points under the guidance of head coach Vladimir Sliskovich. The team continues to pursue a strong finish to the season, leveraging depth from their squad and the leadership of senior players such as Dzhikia as they navigate the final stretch.
Earlier reports had touched on other personnel moves within the country’s football landscape, including news about a new contract for a different club captain, a reminder that this offseason remains active for Russia’s top flight teams. The rumblings reflect a period of transition as clubs assess needs ahead of the next campaign, balancing a blend of homegrown talent and experienced performers who can help push for titles.
