Roman Shirokov, the head coach and director of the Ramensky club Saturn, spoke briefly about the 4-0 defeat of Composite in the 17th round of the Second League B, Group 3. The comments were conveyed through Saturn’s press service.

“We did what we could on the pitch. The scoreboard shows 0:4, and we extend our congratulations to the opponents for their win,” Shirokov remarked after the match.

Later that year, on August 31, 2023, he stepped into the role of acting head coach after Oleg Kononov departed from the position. His transition into the training and administrative duties marked a new chapter for the club as it pursued stability and progress in the national league system.

As a player, Shirokov spent a significant portion of his career with Zenit from 2008 to 2014. During his time with the blue-white-sky-blue club, he helped secure the Russian Championship, the National Cup, and the Super Cup. His contributions extended to European competition, where Zenit claimed victories in the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, highlighting a period of notable success for the club. After leaving Zenit, he joined Spartak for the 2014/2015 season, where he appeared in 19 matches and scored once in official outings for the team.

In discussing Saturn’s squad dynamics, Shirokov has previously commented on the team’s attitude and approach, emphasizing the collective mindset and the ongoing efforts to translate potential into consistent results on match days.
