Sevilla field changes and the goalkeeping shuffle for Osasuna at El Sadar

The usual starting goalkeeper will not be between the posts in the clash with Osasuna at El Sadar, as the Norwegian steps in for a different role this time.

Yassine Bono left Sevilla last summer after José Luis Mendilibar decided to back Marko Dmitrovic as the number one. That decision sets the stage for surprise in Osasuna, where the Serbian shot-stopper starts on the bench for the upcoming match.

Who is Örjan Nyland and why Dmitrovic isn’t starting today in Osasuna versus Sevilla

For the match against the red players, Mendilibar has chosen a lineup built on rotation, yet Dmitrovic’s presence is still a defining feature. The visiting Sevilla side is set to line up Nyland, Navas, Badé, Gudelj, Kike Salas, Rakitic, Jordán, Óliver, Ocampos, Lukebakio, and Rafa Mir, taking the field with strategic flexibility.

Örjan Nyland joined Sevilla on a free transfer for one season to cover the departure of Bono, who moved to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Nyland, 33, has earned 48 caps with the Norwegian national team and has started every international appearance this year. The coach explained that the decision came after frequent conversations with the goalkeeping coach, and Nyland arrived with very good impressions from the first training sessions. Mendilibar commented that Nyland gave a strong sense of reliability from the outset.

Nyland’s club career includes a brief spell at RB Leipzig last season after a lengthy run with Molde, which followed an early start with Hodd in Norway and a move to Ingolstadt 04 in Germany. His journey then took him to Aston Villa in England, where he spent time in the Championship, and he subsequently experienced loan spells at Bournemouth, Norwich, and Reading, all in second-tier competitions.
