Veronika Loginova, who leads the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, responded to ongoing questions about how Russia is aligning with the World Anti-Doping Code. In her remarks she referenced a report from a sports publication to illustrate the current situation and the concerns being raised by the global anti-doping community.

Loginova pointed out that the decision issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency Executive Committee had been made public and that RUSADA had received formal notice. The agency said it would carefully review the position laid out by WADA, examine the documents provided, and consider the possibility of appealing within a 21 day window. The process would include an assessment of whether additional restoration steps were required before any change in status could be considered.

WADA continues to indicate that RUSADA remains non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code. Until all restoration conditions are met, RUSADA’s status would stay non-compliant. It is noteworthy that a few years ago, in Lausanne, the WADA Executive Committee unanimously approved a set of recommendations from its compliance committee and moved to remove RUSADA from the compliance list at that time, a decision that has influenced subsequent discussions and actions.

Separately, the Russian Ministry of Sport announced it would not fund WADA under the same terms, signaling a broader shift in how Russia engages with global anti-doping governance and the financial arrangements surrounding it.

Earlier, a representative in the State Duma stated that Russia should not be a donor to WADA, reflecting ongoing debates about the proper role and funding of international bodies in the governance of sport and anti-doping policy. These debates underscore the tension between national oversight and international standards, as authorities weigh the best path to restore compliance while balancing domestic priorities and international commitments.
