French rider Fabio Quartararo seized a commanding victory at the German Grand Prix, the tenth round of the MotoGP World Championship. The triumph solidifies his overall lead in the premier class, widening the gap over Aleix Espargaró of Aprilia who sits in fourth place overall.

In the standings, the German GP reshaped the championship narrative. Marc Márquez, the Nice-born rider renowned for his aggressive pace, was unable to defend a streak of 11 consecutive Sachsenring wins due to an earlier injury and surgery. He climbed back into the lead pack, reshaping the race’s momentum and setting the stage for a tight title battle as the season progresses.

Quartararo’s victory marks his first counter-clockwise win at the Sachsenring since Valentino Rossi achieved a similar feat in 2009, and it hands him 25 crucial points. With this result, he leads the championship by a 34-point cushion over Espargaró, who has yet to reach the podium in this race weekend.

Starting from fourth place, Quartararo held onto a strong position for much of the race, but it was Jack Miller who briefly threatened the top after a late surge. The Australian, riding for Ducati, crossed the line in third place after an intense finish that squeezed out top rivals. Johann Zarco, also on a Ducati, clinched second and celebrated a French one-two on German soil, capping a memorable day for the French contingent.

This is how the MotoGP classification stood after the German GP:

  1. Fabio Quartararo – Yamaha – 172

  2. Aleix Espargaró – Aprilia – 138

  3. Johann Zarco – Ducati – 111

  4. Enea Bastianini – Ducati – 100
