Saudi Arabia’s superstar forward Neymar has spoken about where he hopes to play once his contract with Al-Hilal reaches its end. The comments were shared in a summary reported by Globo Esportes.
“Certainly I want to return to Santos at some point. I don’t know exactly when, but I will come back,” Neymar stated.
Neymar’s career began with Santos, where he starred from 2009 to 2013, appearing in 102 Brazilian league outings and netting 54 goals while providing one assist for his hometown club during that spell.
The Brazilian forward joined Al-Hilal in the 2023 summer transfer window. He was formally unveiled by the club on August 19. Transfermarkt notes the deal was completed on August 15, with Al-Hilal paying a reported transfer fee of 90 million euros for the forward.
Last season, Neymar produced 13 goals and 11 assists across 20 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, helping the French side clinch the Ligue 1 title. The 31-year-old, who also spent four years at Barcelona from 2013 to 2017, has experience abroad that marked his career outside Brazil for the first time at the European level.
There is also discussion around rival interpretations of Neymar’s Paris period, with some observers suggesting there were perceived inequities in how certain treatments were handled during that time, a debate that has persisted among fans and pundits alike.
