Evgenia Medvedeva, a world and European champion, shared support for Olympic ice dancer Roman Kostomarov via social media after his hospital stay. Medvedev responded to Kostomarov’s post, which expressed gratitude for the widespread encouragement during his recovery from a serious illness.
In the post, Medvedev wrote, We missed you and are very happy to see you. This moment followed a period when Kostomarov, for the first time in a long stretch, addressed fans online to thank everyone for the backing during his medical journey.
January 10 marked the news of Kostomarov entering a hospital, where he faced a critical condition due to pneumonia and required artificial lung ventilation. His status was described as extremely serious at that time.
Subsequently, Kostomarov was moved to Kommunarka hospital, where life-saving measures were continued, including resuscitation and ECMO support. Media reports indicated that he underwent multiple surgeries tied to the disease’s effects, with discussions about limb amputation occurring amid the treatment, and plans for prosthetic procedures were mentioned as part of his ongoing rehabilitation.
Former Russian actress and television presenter Alla Mikheeva also reached out to Kostomarov during his recovery, showing public solidarity and concern for his health.
