Marcel Lichka, the coach who guided Orenburg through the Russian Premier League, has acknowledged that a European club once approached him with a contract offer. He explained that he directed the inquiry to Orenburg’s leadership, emphasizing that his current deal remains valid and that any move would require a transfer fee that meets the club’s valuation.
Speculation has surged that Lichka is among the contenders for Dynamo’s head coaching job after the club parted ways with Slavisa Jokanovic. Earlier, during the winter window, Krasnodar also explored Lichka as a potential head coach, but he chose to remain with Orenburg and continue his work there.
During his tenure, Lichka led Orenburg into the Russian Premier League on two occasions. However, at the close of the 2020/21 season, the team faced a setback when it was not admitted to the elite division due to regulatory changes that affected promotion criteria for that period.
There has been ongoing chatter about Lichka and his capacity to helm a top club in Russia, with some circles suggesting he could become a candidate for high-profile squads in the near future.
